The Alien Room Thought Experiment - Part1

Table of Contents

1. Premise:

I was listening to a podcast in the morning about the potential presence of ESP's in autistic,non-verbal children and their ability to directly send their thoughts directly to their loved ones/ "reading" their minds and sharing ideas non-verbally.

While personally I'm an skeptic regarding matters of paranormal and ESPs , I thought occured to me long after thinking about the same and couldn't wait but write it down so as to think about it deeply.

2. Experimentation Setup:

Imagine a sealed room containing two individuals: a researcher and what appears to be a non-verbal autistic child with claimed ESP abilities. The room is completely isolated from external stimuli and communications. The experiment has several controlled phases:

  1. Baseline Assessment: The researcher has a series of simple images, objects, or thoughts they focus on without revealing them. The child is asked to identify what the researcher is thinking about.
  2. Blind Testing: A secondary researcher outside the room randomly selects stimuli for the primary researcher to focus on. Neither the child nor the primary researcher knows what will be selected beforehand.
  3. Complex Information Transfer: Testing if the child can receive more complex information like mathematical equations, historical facts unknown to them, or abstract concepts.
  4. Distance Testing: Gradually increasing the physical distance between the child and researcher while maintaining the testing protocol.
  5. Interference Testing: Introducing potential ESP-blocking materials or electromagnetic fields to determine if they affect the claimed abilities.

3. What this Experimentation is trying to find ?

The experiment addresses the fundamental question: Can thoughts truly be transferred without conventional sensory channels? If genuine ESP abilities exist, they would fundamentally change our understanding of human consciousness and communication. Can any advanced civilization / "alien" that we may interact in the future , communicate to us via ESP and we as humans can respond via ESP and how can we test that if such a communication even took place or not ?
